1 Down, 2nd to Come

As you all probably know, back in June I ran my first Marathon. Well, do to it being a relatively enjoyable experience I decided to sign up to run again next June. I look forward on keeping you all updated on my progress in the coming months.
Making Goals!

Wow! After reviewing how much time is left until the marathon, last week I calculated that I need to add 1.5 miles to my practice runs every week in order to have the endurance and strength to run most of the marathon. I am reaching my goal with some pain… Tonight, I just ran 7.61 miles, in which I added 1.62 miles over my run last Tuesday of 5.99 miles. Wish me luck and pain free runs as I push to my next goal! God bless!
Time Found!

I finally am on my journey towards training for the marathon. Today, I had the time and the nice January temperatures to get back in the swing of things. I ran almost 3.96 miles today at a much slower pace than I am used to at 10:47 per mile. Previously I was running 7 minute miles.
It is interesting that my challenge of learning to run slower wasn’t as hard as I thought, but then I had a little help from mother nature. The ice on sidewalks and on the sides of the streets made that challenge much easier. Now I just need to keep from getting injured, or over exerting myself. I started using a new iPhone App today during my run called Runmeter. It is awesome due to the many features that are needed for training. It has a built-in Stop Watch, Google Map Route tracker, Audio Annoucements that tell your times and distance, along with a handful of other cool features. I highly recommend it after just my first use. I will keep you all posted on my future progress. Maybe I will figure out how to post my times in an easier way. God Bless!

Finding the Time
by Nicholas Zeitler on Jan.20, 2010, under Uncategorized
Well finding the time to train is quite difficult with a 20 month old. My son, Quillan is handful, and can make you feel like you have been training for a marathon. I ultimately plan on doing a run tomorrow night, and yes I plan on taking it slow, as recommended from Friends on Facebook. Wish me luck!
My First Marathon
by Nicholas Zeitler on Jan.08, 2010, under Uncategorized
Well, today is the first step in documenting my experience of training and ultimately running my first marathon, Grandma’s Marathon, on June 19th, 2010. I have set forth a huge challenge for myself when I haven’t run anything longer than 8K (~5miles) As the name of this website/blog entails. Because of the deep freeze we are in right now, my runs and training will mostly be snowshoeing, and maybe some in door stength training. I will keep you posted.
Thanks and God Bless,
Nick
